The Client

An established online wine supplier to businesses and individuals, based here in Singapore. Potential buyers mostly search for wine online by region, grape variety, price and the occasion they're buying for. So we needed to improve rankings for those wine searches as well as for supplier searches.

The Challenge

Selling wine online in Singapore comes with its own challenges. Alcohol is heavily taxed, so buyers compare prices closely and often look for duty-free or better-value options before they buy. The tropical climate makes proper storage a real concern, and many buyers want reassurance about how wine is kept and delivered. Wine is also a smaller, more specialist market than beer or spirits. Its buyers range from restaurants and corporate clients to collectors and casual drinkers, and each group searches differently: by region, grape, price, occasion or gift. To reach them, a supplier needs content that teaches as well as sells, from price guides to storage advice and wine recommendations.

In December 2025, half of the 50 tracked keywords (25) weren't ranking at all. The main commercial term, "wine supplier singapore", is hard to win, with a keyword difficulty of 58–63 in Ahrefs. The site was up against large wine retailers and importers that already held the top spots.

The Growth

Singapore's wine market is worth chasing. It brought in about US$1.41 billion in 2022 and has grown about 4.3% a year since 2017, with a forecast of close to US$2 billion by 2027 (MarketLine via Research and Markets). Singapore makes no wine of its own, so every bottle is imported. In 2025 the country brought in US$848 million of wine and beer, almost two-thirds of it from France (USDA Foreign Agricultural Service). With that much choice on the market, a supplier has to be easy to find when buyers search.

Authority grew quickly. By 25 May, Domain Rating had risen from 24 to 35, and referring domains from 38 to 425. Over the same period, keywords in the top 3 went from 7 to 20, and organic traffic grew from about 500 to about 2K a month in Site Explorer.

By 21 July, organic traffic had risen to 644 a month, with 24 of 50 tracked keywords in the top 10. By 3 August, it reached 861 a month, worth S$2.5K, with 35 of 50 tracked keywords in the top 10. Ahrefs' competitor view shows the new website now ahead of all five tracked competitors for organic traffic.
